PGT Online Open Days

As a Student Ambassador, I supported the delivery of Postgraduate Taught (PGT) Online Open Days by engaging with prospective students and providing accurate, practical information about the programme and wider student experience.

My role involved explaining course structure, assessment, and academic expectations within my strand and discussing employability, career pathways, and job opportunities linked to the degree. I also answered questions around living and studying in the UK from an international perspective, including workload, accommodation and student support.

I answered a range of questions, adjusting how I explained things depending on who I was speaking to, especially for international applicants who weren’t familiar with the UK system. I tried to keep things clear and straightforward, whether it was about the course, student life, or future opportunities so prospective students and parents can have a holistic understanding of how student life and studies in Sheffield look like.

Sometimes during Open Day sessions, I spoke not only with students but also with their parents, who were often just as involved in the decision. I shared my own experience of studying and living here in an honest way, so they could get a more realistic picture and decide if it was the right fit for them.

It also pushed me to explain things more clearly and get comfortable speaking to different types of people on the spot.
